    What the organisers say

The cross-country designer is David Evans and the builder is Paul Ellis.

After considerable change for the 2014 track, 2015 will be a year of consolidation.

Some changes will be made to the combination fences especially for the CIC tracks.

The main water jump has also has been extended. New fences will be added to all tracks, but the route will remain as in 2014.

As always, the organising and cross-country team treat the going as a top priority.

Both the agri-vator and verti-drain machine will be on site in the build-up and throughout the event. Some targeted watering of the tracks will be done if needed.

All showjumping will take place in the main arena and built by Di Boddy. The preparation of the ground will be given top priority. Watering will take place if required.

For July 2015 there will be two days of FEI dressage on Thursday, 30 and Friday, 31 July. It will take place in the main arena and will have a “championship feel”.

Prize money will be paid in all classes. For the international classes there will be a total prize pot of around £5,000, with the winner of the CIC3* taking home £2,000 and the winner of the CIC2* winning £1,000. This will increase subject to sponsorship and entry numbers.

Complimentary refreshments will be available on FEI dressage days to all owners of international horses in the hospitality tent. Discounted hospitality will be available to all owners and riders over the weekend. Contact the event secretary Anne Davison.

The Burghley young event horse classes return to Burgham on Friday, 31 July, with British Showjumping all weekend. These take place in the new ring two.

    What the riders say

Dressage & showjumping — “The ground here is always good because it takes rain well
and never gets heavy.” “The dressage has plenty of flat space to warm up.” “You’re unlucky if you get the arena that is right next to the cross-country when that is taking place as it does run quite close to the dressage.” “The showjumping is great, flat and with plenty of space to warm up.” “There’s a bit of an atmosphere because you’ve got the tradestands and banners around the main arena which can be quite an eyeful for a young horse.” “It’s better suited to more experienced horses.” “The showjumping is up to height and strong for that level.”

Cross-country — “It’s not too hilly and is a good flowing track.” “There are enough questions and they do have their technical bits in there.” “The advanced rode fantastically last year.” “The fences are well presented.”
