An insurance product specifically for horse owners in the South West has been launched by Cornish Mutual.
The company, which has thousands of members across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset, has not offered a horse insurance plan until now.
The insurance can be tailored to meet individual requirements and is open to horses and ponies of all types and ages.
Alan Goddard, managing director of Cornish Mutual said: “We understand that horses and all aspects of the equine sector are synonymous with the rural community in the South West.
“We listen to what our members says about our products and services and are delighted to offer insurance for horses as a result.”
Cornish Mutual offers vets fees cover up to £5,000, third party liability, loss of tack, loss of horses and foals and personal accident cover.
It will pay out up to 100 per cent of the value of a horse (depending on the policy) in case of death, injury or loss of use.
The company also offers 24-hour veterinary and emergency advice helplines for members.
