Young event rider David Doel, from Chippenham, Wiltshire, has won a training bursary of £500 after being named the winner of the 2010 TopSpec eventing scholarship.
Seventeen-year-old David currently competes five horses, including advanced rides Pick and Mix ll and Cartman. David plans to use the training bursary for coaching with Yogi Breisner.
“When I heard the news I was delighted,” said David.
“Making sure your horses are receiving the correct feed is vital to success in the world of eventing. To be the first male winner of the scholarship is amazing and I am following some very well known previous winners.”
David’s prizes include a year’s supply of TopSpec Comprehensive Feed Balancer and TopSpec CoolCondition Cubes; plus supplements and additives for two horses for 12 months, a cross-country training bursary of £500, horse and rider clothing, and ongoing nutritional support from an experienced TopSpec nutritionist.
“The nutritional advice and training money will be so valuable. I have five talented horses and feel very lucky to now have support from TopSpec as well,” he added.
Runners up for the scholarship were Cheshire-based Dee Hankey and Central Scotland-based Daniel Scott.
