World Class Performance Director [Promotion]

  • ADVERTISING FEATURE

Reporting to the Chief Executive | Location: Kenilworth, Warwickshire

The BEF is seeking a dynamic individual with a track record of success to lead its World Class Performance programme, with particular emphasis on preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This is a rare opportunity to build on one of Great Britain’s sporting success stories following a record medal haul at the London 2012 Games. The successful candidate will lead and direct the BEF’s vision to nurture a winning environment and ensure that Great Britain maintains the most advanced performance programme in the equestrian world.

The Performance Director, working in harmony with British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping, will oversee the management of athletes and horses, while supporting their owners, and develop emerging talent through various identifiable pathways to ensure a rich pipeline for the future. This is a challenging role within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment – both internal and external – and will require the very best in leadership skills.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage and motivate teams of people with a variety of different interests, as well as ensuring that stringent performance criteria are met on behalf of UK Sport, which funds the programme through Lottery and Exchequer funds. Success will be measured in medals.

A track record of success in leading coaches in a national or publicly funded high-performance environment, alongside knowledge of equestrian sport, is desirable. He/she will have the ability to manage extensive and complex budgets, and be confident of speaking in public and dealing with the media.

The remuneration package will be commensurate with the seniority and responsibilities of the role.
