Study at your own pace with Warwickshire College’s distance learning degree courses [Promotion]

  • Warwickshire College logoIf you want to study at higher education level but are unable to attend college full-time, Warwickshire College’s flexible distance learning degree programmes offer the perfect solution. However busy your lifestyle, your learning can be tailored to fit in around family commitments, working hours, caring for horses or whatever else makes demands upon your time.

And what’s more, all Warwickshire College equine distance learning degree courses are validated in partnership with Coventry University, so at the end of the course your degree certificate will have exactly the same value and impact upon employers as any of the college’s full-time degree programmes.

    Quality one-to-one support and guidance

You’ll be supported by a course manager who will supply you with a full year plan so you’ll know exactly what needs to be handed in and when any attendance requirements take place. Module leaders are on hand to guide you over the phone, via email or, if you prefer to speak face-to-face, are happy to meet with you at the college for a tutorial.

For some courses, students are invited to attend weekend seminar schools at the college’s 750-acre centre at Moreton Morrell, where they’ll learn practical skills and have access to a wealth of facilities, including stabling for over 120 horses, an equine sports performance laboratory, three large schools and a soon-to-be-completed equine therapy and rehabilitation centre.

Course materials available at your fingertips

You’ll benefit from a specially adapted and continuously developed e-learning channel, full of online materials and resources that are accessible 24/7. This includes:

    • Video lectures
    • Online presentations with tutor voiceovers
    • Equine physiology video lessons featuring the college horses
    • Videos of practical sessions featuring staff and students from the full-time courses
    • Podcasts from visiting speakers
    • Online e-books and journals for all students
    • UK-based distance learners can loan out library materials by post
    • Clear and simple interface that allows you to navigate all the online resources easily

All materials are produced by expert tutors, and provide comprehensive information ensuring distance learning students receive the same information as students attending lectures full time.

    What students say

“I leave with a far enhanced knowledge of the industry, some very good friends and the satisfaction that my life has a lot to thank this course for. It has been a privilege to attend Warwickshire College and I will always look back on my time on the course fondly.” – Robert, FdSc horseracing industry

“I found the seminar school a really useful addition as a distance learner. It puts the theory into context and helps you understand the importance of condition scoring, conformation and rationing on a yard in everyday life.” – Equine studies student who attended a seminar school

“Warwickshire College distance learning materials are well supported by an excellent library, from which books can be borrowed by post. There are superb online search facilities through the library enabling you to search academic articles by title, keyword, article title, author or just by subject area. The librarians are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They have even sourced material I needed from the British Library.” — Lisa, BA (Hons) equine studies

    Student case study

Faye works as programme area manager for equine and countryside at a college in Norfolk. She fits studying around her busy, full-time job and caring for her family.

Before enrolling on the degree programme, she completed numerous vocational qualifications working in the equine industry but wanted to gain a higher education qualification to boost her career prospects. She says: “Warwickshire College’s distance learning programme was the perfect way for me to complete my degree. Plenty of support is available from tutors and the course manager keeps in touch to make sure progression is continual.”
