Premier pony jumping at South View

  • South View Pony Premier

A supremely confident third clear from Pippa Allen and Mr Bon Ami clinched victory in the John Whitaker International Winter JA Classic on the opening day of South View’s pony Premier Show, reports Margaret Shaw. Second was George Whitaker and Jane Pownall’s Loobeen Shamrock ahead of Jessie Drea and Diego Flow.

Zoe Adams and VIP Tixylix continued their recent run of form in the second JA qualifier. Second place went to Carian Scudamore and Cappagh Supreme. Jessie Drea clinched another ticket in third on Quantum Light. James Smith (Mr Nice Guy) and George Whitaker (Cavalcade) also qualified.

Producing the only triple clear to beat 59 first-day rivals in the Winter JC were Emma Stoker and Millie III. Rachel Connor took the second ticket on Double Time. George Whitaker finished third with Karlando. Zoe Adams and Beth Mantel clinched their Hickstead tickets on day two with R Peroni and Saltys Top Babe.

Emma Stoker and Tick Tock Two Tone headed the Blue Chip Sparkle JC/JA, while
Chad Fellows took the Kitt-Kraiburg Coral on Tex Two.

    Unex Towerlands

Emma-Jo Slater and Laura Renwick captured the Royal International tickets after a hard-fought Derby House Winter Novice qualifier at Unex Towerlands, reports Penny Richardson

Thirty-two of the near 90 competitors reached round two, with half going through to round three, where they chased two Hickstead spots against the clock.

The first treble clear came from Georgie Bray on Quota PP Z, who finished seventh.
Emma-Jo Slater then took the lead by 0.5sec on the first of two rides, Kim Barzilay’s Trojen.

Two horses later, Emma-Jo was pushed out by Barry Dove on athletic five-year-old stallion, Obelix Z. But Barry had to give best to Julian Mincher, on Charlotte Baines’s Uncle Gerrit.

Emma-Jo Slater returned on Simply Billie Bunter to gallop into the lead by a cool 2sec. Maggie Lockhart tried hard for fourth place on Qabouschka, before Laura Renwick on U-Too VII brought the class to a close, finishing just 0.6sec behind Emma-Jo.
