No change for World Cup rules

  • The forthcoming show jumping World Cup series will retain its formula as a jump-off class with a maximum of 38 first-round starters.

The FEI had proposed changing the rules to allow a maximum of 10 riders in each jump-off, but following protests by riders, the change has been abandoned.

The world’s top 10 show jumpers, who include British number one Robert Smith, had threatened to boycott the series if the rule change had gone ahead.

The series kicks off at Helsinki (16-19 October), with Britain’s round at Olympia (18-22 December).
