New international SJ series

  • A new international show jumping series will be held during July next year in celebration of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee

A series of international show jumping shows, sponsored by Horse & Hound, will take place during July 2002, in celebration of the BSJA patron HM The Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

The Horse & Hound CSIC International Tour will offer overall prize-money in the region of £100,000, which is hoped to attract overseas riders in the run-up to the Nations Cup at Hickstead’s Royal International Horse Show.

The four-stage tour will take place at:

    • The Royal, Warks (1-4 July)
    • Ridgewood International, Surrey (6-8 July)
    • Essex International (14-16 July)
    • Chester International (19-21 July)

Each show will run three international classes per day, culminating in speed, small and large grands prix on the final day. There will also be a full supporting programme of national classes.

Grants of £10,000 to each of the participating shows have been made possible by a legacy left to the BSJA by the late Janet Bennett. A trophy in Jane’s memory will be presented to the leading British rider throughout the tour.
