More British riders at Olympia

  • Following the withdrawal of Switzerland’s Willi Melliger, Corrine Collins and Richard Davenport have been invited to compete at Olympia

Two young British show jumpers will join top international riders at this week’s Olympia International Show Jumping Championships (19-23 December).

Corrine Collins (22) and Richard Davenport (21) have been invited to compete at the show following the withdrawal of Swiss international, Willi Melliger, who is sidelined with an injury.

Corrine and Richard can both bring one horse to the show, which is offering more than £232,000 in prize money during the five days.

The announcement will bring an end to the controversysurrounding Richard not being invited to Olympia, despite being Britain’s leading rider on the World Cup circuit.

In addition to world-class show jumping, Olympia will include performances from the whip-cracking Cossacks from the Ukraine, Westphalian stallions from Germany and the horseless horsemen Jez Avery and Matthieu Nassif, plus the Osborne Refrigerators Shetland Pony Grand National.
