Kurten bids for World Cup final glory


  • Jessica Kurten will be the sole Irish competitor at the FEI World Cup Show Jumping final in Gothenburg, Sweden, which begins on 13 April and finishes on Easter Monday (16 April).

    Currently ranked as the world No.2 female rider, Jessica, from Cullybackey in Co. Antrim, will carry the Irish flag on her own, following the decision by Ireland’s other World Cup qualifying rider, Peter Charles, to pull out of the Gothenburg Final.

    Due to FMD restrictions, Peter was stranded in the Netherlandswhen the disease broke out there, and was unable to prepare his horses for the gruelling demands of the final.

    Jessica Kurten (formerly Chesney) is one of just 28 top riders fromaround the world who qualified for Gothenburg.

    The final will be televised live on Eurosport at 4.30pm, on16 April.
