Gemma Plumley’s Ebro breaks leg at Wales and West

  • Show jumper Gemma Plumley has lost one of her most exciting horses, Ebro, after he broke a leg at Wales and West show.

The Johnseys’ stallion was competing in the jump-off of the Foxhunters second round on Monday (6 June) when he took off a stride early for the triple bar and crashed through the fence.

Although the poles fell, on landing the horse broke his right tibia just above the hock and had to be put down. Brendon Stud’s Shirley Light helped to keep the horse calm at the scene, until he was put to sleep.

Gemma was unseated, but managed to roll clear and was unhurt.

Ebro was second in the seven-year-old final on the Spanish Sunshine Tour this year and qualified for Horse of the Year Show seven/eight-year-old class in April.
