Chance for youth to shine

  • Important changes have been made to next year’s BSJA young horse competitions.

From 1 April, the AON series will be open to six-year-olds only, while the Thomas Bates competitions will be for seven-year-old horses.

Both classes will culminate in Horse of the Year Show finals, with the top 24 horses qualifying on a points basis. The dates and venues for the eight to ten qualifying competitions will be announced soon, with points allocated to horses jumping clear rounds.

There arealso changes to the young horse championships at the Festival of Show Jumping, although qualification will still go to those managing double clears.

The Milton Championship is now restricted to five-year-olds, while the Olympic Star Spotters is open to six-year-olds only.

For full report see Horse & Hound issue dated 23 November.
