First showing training yard approved

  • The first yard approved as a training establishment for the new British Horse Society (BHS)/British Show Pony Society (BSPS) showing qualifications has been named.

Team Hollings’s Blue Slate Stables in Lancashire has gained approval. In doing so, it became the first centre in the country to be presented with a red plaque, an award for training excellence.

The BHS and BSPS have worked for the past 12 months to create a set of recognised showing-specific qualifications. Candidates must hold either a BHS Stage Two or NVQ Level 2 before applying and there are three levels — show groom, assistant show trainer and accredited show trainer.

For more details contact the BSPS (tel: 01487 831376).
