Our reviewer thought this turnout rug was 'second to none' and couldn't recommend it highly enough
I tested the Horseware Rambo Duo turnout rug in a size 6’6. My first impression when I unboxed this rug was just how attractive it was. It is a rich burgundy colour, and features a lot of additional attention to detail, such as a neat cream and blue piping around the edge of the rug, handy reflective strips and even a PVC-coated fillet string.
It really is a very smart looking rug, however, don’t be blown away just by its good looks — this rug also has the performance and durability to match, making it the perfect turnout rug for any horse. The rug is waterproof and breathable and combines a 300g removable liner with a 100g Thermobonded Fuberfill 100 Denier Nylon outer shell.
I cannot rate the Horseware anti-bacterial liner system highly enough — it really is second to none. As the liner is detachable, it allows you to decide on the level of warmth and protection you need for the day. Meaning that this rug can happily take you through all seasons and allows you to confidently face any weather conditions the great British outdoors may throw at you.
The rug also features a SureFit neck design — patented “V front” closure system and “V leg arches” — meaning that it fits a variety of different shapes and sizes. My model, Ellie, is quite a chunky mare, especially at the front, meaning that our past rugs have often rubbed her bare. However, this rug has not left a mark. I especially like how big the removable neck is — as it does not ride-up and let the water in. The tail flap is also removable, again adding to the rugs versatility.
My only criticism surrounding this rug is that it is pretty pricey — although, I wouldn’t say it is over-priced.
Overall, you certainly get a great rug for what you pay — finally I have found a rug for life!
