Blue Chip saddlecloth: review

The Blue Chip promotional saddlecloth is a handy everyday saddlecloth. It is a smart navy colour with Blue Chip branding on both sides.

The saddlecloth is quilted but not too thick to interfere with the fit of the saddle.

The saddlecloth features Velcro straps to attach to the girth straps and Velcro straps by the girth. This is standard on most saddlecloth straps, which makes it very easy to change saddlecloths before and after competition or to change to another saddlecloth in everyday use.

The full size GP fits well under my 17.5 jump/GP saddle. I feel it would suit the majority of GP saddles but may not be forward cut enough for a pure jumping saddle. The saddlecloth has not rubbed my horse at all, and there is plenty of room around the withers even though my horse has higher than average withers.

side view 2

The Blue Chip branded saddlecloth has worn well after use and washing.

The navy colour of the saddlecloth makes it unsuitable for dressage competitions it could however be used for showjumping competitions. It is also possible that it could be used for unaffiliated cross-country competitions or the cross-country phase of unaffiliated one-day events.

The saddlecloth is fine for everyday and serves its purpose but does not offer any additional features to make it stand out from other saddlecloths on the market.

Verdict

Our reviewer found this saddlecloth to be great for everyday use but perhaps limited when it comes to some competition use due to its colour
