Popular chaser Twist Magic suffered a fatal fall at Newbury today.

The horse was travelling well, in the lead when he fell two from home.

The Paul Nicholls-trained eight-year-old and dual winner of the Tingle Creek Chase sustained fetlock fracture and was put down.

The Grade 1 Peterborough Chase was won by Tartak, trained by Tom George.

An ‘absolutely gutted’ Paul Nicholls described the horse as “a star”.
