  • Sam Thomas, 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup winning jockey, will star in a new feature series to be shown during The Morning Line, Channel 4.

During each feature Sam will ride out, school and look around the yard of a trainer.

He will also pick two of their best horses to follow for the 2011-2012 jump season.

Filming started this week and will include visits to 2009 Grand National winning trainer Venetia Williams, Tom Symonds, Oliver Sherwood and Charlie Mann.

The first three-minute feature is scheduled to be shown during The Morning Line, Channel 4, Saturday morning, from the middle of October.

Sam Thomas said: “I thought that my idea of a ‘from the saddle view’ could be really interesting for viewers and give people a real taste of what it’s like to sit on these exciting racehorses.”

The Morning line producer Sophie Veats said: “Sam’s insight into many racing yards will provide a fascinating contribution to The Morning Line and a nice boost into the much anticipated jump season.”
