Tattersalls’ Mares Sale proves a winner

  • Half-sister to Barathea and Gossamer sold for 1.5 million guineas at the Tattersalls’ December Mares Sale.

    The Tattersalls’ December Mares Sale saw 1.5 million guineas being paid for the half-sister to Barathea and Gossamer. Total sales figures for the December Sales exceeded half a million guineas mark for only the third time in Tattersalls’ history.

    During the session a total of 191 lots were sold for a total of 13,302,000 guineas, at an average of 69,643.

    Rainbow Quest, half-sister Zibilene made 1,500,000 guineas, and ws bought by Rory Matthews on behalf of Barbara Facchino’s Barouche Stud.

    The three-year-old chesnut filly Born Something, a full sister to Group 3 winner Gold Round attracted plenty of attention with several prominent buyers expressing interest. The daughter of Caerlron was bought on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley Stud for 820,000 guineas.

    The third highest price paid during the day was 680,000 guineas paid for Panache Arabelle by bloodstock agent Charlie Gordon-Watson.
