  • Jockey Mick Fitzgerald has successfully come through a further operation following his fall in the Grand National from L’Ami on Saturday 5 April.

Mick underwent a five-hour operation on his neck on Monday night and it is now supported by a fixed brace.

During the same surgery he had an operation to repair severe ligament damage on his knee, which also went well.

Surgeon Jeremy Fairbanks will be assessing Mick’s progress and it is hoped that he will be able to return home in the near future.
