  • Dan Skelton saddled his first winner as a trainer when Mister Grez won the 2m 5f handicap chase at Ffos Las last Sunday (13 October).

The former assistant to Paul Nicholls, and son of Olympic showjumper Nick Skelton, announced in February his intention to set up as racehorse trainer. He had sent out 8 runners from his new base near Alcester, Warwicks, before his first taste of success at the weekend.

Dan tweeted after the race: “Thank you everyone for your messages and support. It’s a privilege to be able to train horses and a great feeling to have a winner.”

Dan’s younger brother Harry rode the 7-year-old grey to victory.
