William Fox-Pitt's Cool Mountain will miss London Olympics

One of William Fox-Pitt’s top rides, Cool Mountain, is out of contention for London 2012.
The horse sustained tendon damage at the Europeans last year.
William, 43, won the Rolex Kentucky with Cool Mountain in 2010.
The 12-year-old Primitive Rising gelding was William’s mount when Team GB won team gold at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) the same year, also taking individual silver.
William said he was giving Cool Mountain the whole year off, after he injured a tendon in Luhmuhlen last August when he helped Britain to the team bronze, racking up the best British individual result (seventh).
“It’s not very serious, but I am going to give him the whole year off from competition to regain full fitness,” said William.
“It is particularly sad to have Cool Mountain off this year,” he added.
“But I am very lucky to have three horses in contention.”
William also has Parklane Hawk — on whom he won his record sixth Burghley last year, last year’s Pau winner, Oslo and Lionheart as potential Olympic mounts.
