Three gold medal-winning riders have been inducted into the British Horse Society’s (BHS) Hall of Fame.
Ben Maher, Charlotte Dujardin and Sophie Christiansen were among those honoured at the Household Cavalry’s Knightsbridge barracks on 12 December.
The BHS Hall of Fame celebrates human and equine heroes of the equestrian world.
Their names are celebrated on plaques on the wall of Knightsbridge Barracks overlooking Hyde Park. And thanks to the Olympics and Paralympics, this year had the largest intake since the Hall of Fame was launched in 2005.
“It was an honour to be recognised in such a way after such an amazing summer,” Paralympic medallist Sophie told H&H.
Laura Bechtolsheimer’s Olympic dressage partner Mistral Horjis was also honoured, alongside the late show producer Vin Toulson and Pretty Polly, a prolific-winning show pony from the 1950s.
The selections were made by a panel that included H&H Editor Lucy Higginson.
Lucy said: “It was marvellous to see these new names inducted and hosted for the day by another great British equestrian institution — our mounted regiments.”
