Whitaker one-two in Windsor grand prix

  • Robert Whitaker has landed the Alltech grand prix for the Kingdom of Bahrain Trophy at Royal Windsor Horse Show. The 31-year-old rode his mother Clare’s Catwalk IV to victory, beating his cousin William Whitaker (Fandango) into second, with Dan Neilson third on Varo M.

“He’s 11 now, but he’s still improving and there isn’t a fence too big for him,” said Robert after a thrilling 11-rider jump-off. “He gets better at every show. He was superb today.”

The capacity crowd had plenty to cheer about, with seven of the top eight places in this strong international class being filled by British riders. Nick Skelton and Big Star were also back in action in round one, producing their third jumping clear of the show.
