Warmblood fans flock to Dutch stallion show

  • The annual KWPN Stallion Show in The Netherlands will be held in ‘s Hertogenbosch on Saturday 3 February.

More than 22 specially selected three-year-olds come under the hammer in front of an estimated audience of 10,00.

Egbert Schep from the VHO (Society of Stallion Breeders), said: “The demand for good young horses is incredible. Just look at how many people are willing to pay high prices for a promising foal at the various auctions.

“The foals are selected on type, movement and pedigree. People are happy with the selection and will pay a bit extra for it. In this particular case, it’s even more so because of the pre-viewing’s stallion approval and selection before the auction, which means that the best of a year’s production isput up for sale.”

Horses for sale have all been approved by the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences in Utrecht and the reports and Xrays are all available to prospective purchasers.
