Troubled riding wear brand Loveson is bought by Tagg

  • Loveson and FALPro have been bought by Tagg Clothing Group.

Thomas H Loveday Limited of Blyth, Northumberland — which owned the riding wear and horse rug brands — went into administration on 12 July.

But the business was bought on Monday (26 July) by TSS&P Limited, who make Tagg show jackets and jodhpurs, Comfort Zone rugs, girths and saddle pads, the Funnell range of rugs and accessories and the Polly Products horse products and riding helmets.

Turnover of Loveday is some £2m per annum but has been pulled down by the financial problems of its parent group, the bedding firm Slumberdown, which appointed of Ernst & Young as administrators on 12 July.

TSS&P Limited managing director Tom Eastwood said: “There was understandably strong interest in the sale and we are delighted that these strong brands are joining our stable.

“They will complement our current range and give us access into a new market for us, riding footwear and chaps.”

He said the company would be reviewing the future structure of the business in coming months but its main aim is to ensure that customers receive their orders in good time for the coming winter season.

“We will continue the route to market through our retail customers, many of whom we share in common,” added Mr Eastwood.

Customers of Loveday should continue to order through the Blyth office, and of Tagg and Polly Products through the Newark office.
