The great crime survey

  • Horse & Hound is to publish the results of its summer crime survey, launched in July, over the next two weeks.

Sixty-four respondents to H&H’s questionnaire had been victims of theft, with over half of these targeted on more than one occasion.

“Everybody is a target”, commented one Horsewatch co-ordinator, a fact borne out by the survey results, but opportunism, repeat visits from thieves and slack security also feature among the main findings of the survey.

Detailed results and analysis will be published in Horse & Hound from tomorrow (7 October 2004). The findings reveal regional variations, the public’s reaction to police response, and just how many (or few) security measures most horse owners take.
