Fans bid farewell to Corradina at Aachen

  • There were plenty of tears as German showjumper Carsten-Otto Nagel retired the great 16-year-old grey mare Corradina at Aachen last week (Thursday 17 July).

The German team stalwart by Corrado out of a Sandro mare will now become a broodmare.

“I have Corradina to thank for a lot. I can’t even express it in words. Thank you for everything,” said Carsten-Otto, who rode her for 12 years.

“I am sure she will produce a few wonderful foals.”

Chef d’equipe Otto Becker added: “It’s a shame that Corradina won’t be competing in future, you could always rely on her for two clear rounds in the Nations’ Cup. A fantastic horse.”

    Corradina’s roll of honour

    • Team bronze and individual silver at the European Championships, Windsor, in 2009
    • Team gold at the world championships in Kentucky 2010
    • Team gold and individual silver at the Europeans in Madrid 2011
    • Team silver at the Europeans in Herning 2013
