Sheepgate Equestrian Centre hit by large theft

  • Over £20,000 worth of tack and rugs has been stolen from Sheepgate Equestrian Centre, near Boston in Lincolnshire, following an overnight break-in.

The theft happened during the early hours of Sunday 11 September and more than 40 rugs, 10 saddles, and bridles, boots and bandages were taken.

Although two rugs have been recovered, Sarah Payne, of Sheepgate, fears that many items will not be found.

She said: “We have been lucky enough to get back two of the rugs already but who knows where the rest of the things are.

“The most galling item to go was a new model Amerigo black dressage saddle, it had only been put on a horse’s back three times.

“This was clearly a carefully planned job and we are currently unsure how they got in.

“Our CCTV was tampered with, however local cameras have identified two white transit vans, one with a stripe on the side which we believe to have been involved.

“Whoever did this clearly knew our layout and security systems well.

“If anyone comes across any of the items listed on our website, which may be being sold at a knock-down price, then do please contact us either by emailing me at sarah@sheepgate.co.uk or tel: 07768 156262.”
