Rolling Stone donates print to Irish horse charity auction

  • Rolling Stones musician and artist Ron Wood is supporting The Irish Horse Welfare Trust’s (IHWT) Christmas auction, by donating one of his prints.

The IHWT’s annual Christmas internet auction raises funds for its work rescuing, re-habilitating and re-homing horses at the charity’s farm in Co Wicklow.

Other items donated include several other prints, visits to the yards of some of the top Irish and English trainers, including Aidan O’Brien, Nicky Henderson, Jessica Harrington, Sir Michael Stoute and Paul Nolan.

Also included are interior design packages by Meath designer Sue Barrett, unique single colour racing silks, fantastic corporate packages to many racecourses, race sponsorship, Frankie Dettori signed Goldophin silks and a round of golf with top flat jockey Johnny Murtagh.

The auction commences at 9am on Friday 26th November and will close at 5pm on Monday 6th December. Log on to http://auction.ihwt.ie/ to place your bid.

A major appeal helped the charity to buy the farm in October 2008 where it is currently caring for more than 60 equines.

Residents at the farm include rescued thoroughbred horses and ponies of various types, sizes and ages, along with 14 ex-racehorses who are being retrained for re-homing.
