Police warn riders to postcode their tack after thefts

  • Police in the Thames Valley area are urging riders to postcode their tack after two large thefts within the space of a week.

On Sunday night (24 February) thieves broke into a yard near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and stole about £15,000-worth of tack.

Their haul included two Jaguar saddles and a Sue Carson black and gold double bridle.

Helen Evans, a spokesman for Thames Valley Horsewatch told H&H: “This is the second tack theft in the area in the past week. Another yard near High Wycombe was raided last week and £11,000-worth of tack stolen. None of it was postcoded.”

She added: “Postcoding your tack might not necessarily stop it being stolen, but it will help it to be returned.”

For more information on postcoding your tack, contact the crime reduction officer at your local police station, or find your nearest Horsewatch group on www.ukhorsewatch.org.uk

If you have any information about the thefts, call Thames Valley Police in confidence on 08458 505505.
