New clothing company exclusively for larger riders launched

  • A online new clothing company has been set up especially for larger riders.

The brand, 1624 Equine Couture has “stylish, quality items that can really make a fashion statement”.

“Unfortunately women who are larger than the average size often feel that the market does not cater for their demands and it can be an emotional rollercoaster attempting to find clothing that reflects current trends whilst still promoting confidence,” said a spokesman for the company.

Rider Jane Horsman set up the online retail outlet after experiencing the dilemma herself.

The site specialises in equestrian wear for riders from sizes 16 up to 24.

“With figures showing that over 20% of women are over a size 16 I believe that it is unfair that the majority of the market only caters for riders of a certain size,” said Jane.

“More often than not, items that are designed for bigger women never have the same style and appearance as they do for smaller sizes. 1624 Equine Couture is extremely close to my heart and I hope that I can encourage more women like me to indulge in their love for fashion and wear their riding clothes with pride.”

Items include practical clothing and also fashionable items from from brands including Equetech and US companies TuffRider and Equine Couture.

1624 Equine Couture also offers an exclusive appointment system where riders can book into come and try on garments at the 1624 HQ in Kent.
