Naked ‘Lady Godiva’ ride through Hyde Park for charity

  • Would you dare to bare? To coincide with the DVD release of her film Lady Godiva, writer and director Vicky Jewson is looking for 50 women to take part in a naked ride through London’s Hyde Park on 19 May.

And for every rider who forgoes their clothing, Ms Jewson will donate £5 to Maggies, a network of cancer units in Scotland and Oxford.

The naked ride will be led by Ms Jewson’s sister, Libby, who caused a stir by riding naked to the film’s premiere in Oxford this January.

Ms Jewson told H&H: “A mass Lady Godiva ride is a fantastic chance for people to get involved and raise money for charity in a quirky way.

“Lady Godiva rode naked for the greater good and that’s what we’re doing.”

The film is a modern take on the story of Lady Godiva, an 11th-century noblewoman who, according to legend, rode naked through Coventry in protest against her husband’s harsh taxation of his people.
