Hunting world mourns loss of top supporter


  • Lord Kimball, formerly Sir Marcus Kimball MP, a leading figure in the defence of field sports, died on 27 March aged 85.

    He was chairman of the British Field Sports Society from 1966-82 and president from 1995-99, before becoming deputy president of its successor, the Countryside Alliance.

    Lord Kimball was a master and amateur huntsman of the Fitzwilliam from 1950-52, and of the Cottesmore from 1953-58.

    He founded the Museum of Hunting at the Melton Carnegie Museum and was president of Olympia horse show from 1991-99.

    Lord Kimball is survived by his wife Lady (June) Kimball and 2 daughters.
