Long-distance rider appeals for funds

  • A partially sighted rider is seeking sponsorship for her 70-mile ride to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

A rider who has only partial sight is appealing for sponsors for her 70-mile ride to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

Sarah Craig, 30, who is partnered with her fourth guide dog, Brodie, is hoping to raise around £1,000 for the organisation which she says has done so much to help her.

She is planning to ride three horses from her local stables, Ogmore Farm Trekking Centre, near Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan, Wales.

Sarah, who regularly rides horses from the centre on the nearby beach, describes this opportunity as “heaven”.

“Whenit’s just you and the horse, there’s more of a bond. You can almost feel what they are thinking”, she says.

“Sometimes, I think it’s a benefit that I can’t see what the horses see because if I don’t get anxious, then they don’t either! ”

Sarah will be accompanied by other riders on her sponsored ride, which will be over sand dunes, through forest and on common land.

For more information on sponsorship, contact Sarah Craig (tel: 02920 839115), or write to: Cardiff Guide Dogs, 904, Newport Rd, Cardiff, CF3 4LL). Cheques should be made out to GDBA.
