She jokes about her “princess moments” on Twitter, but in November eventer Laura Collett will be getting the hump. Literally, as she takes part in her first camel race.

The camels will charge over one furlong at Chepstow (21 November), in aid of Bristol charity Paul’s Place, which supports disabled adults.

“It should be good fun, and I think it will get quite competitive,” said Laura.

There will be heats of races where Laura will line up against other  “jockeys” including At the Races presenter Matt Chapman and actor Sean Gleeson, before the final.

“I’ve only ridden a camel once before — on holiday in Egypt,” Laura told H&H. “So I’m not too sure about it. But hopefully the camels will know what they’re doing…”
