The International League for the Protection of Horses is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest ever tombola

The big challenge at the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) Madness 2001 event on Sunday 9 September will be an attempt to break the Guinness world record for the largest ever tombola.

Madness 2001 follows on from the success of last year’s Millennium Madness, and will take place at Hinton in the Hedges Airfield, near Brackley, Northants.

The current tombola record, held by a Buckingham-based charity, stands at 2,424 prizes, but the ILPH, which is attempting to obtain 3,000 prizes, has got off to a good start with an early donation of 1,000 items of redundant stock.

Anybody who would like to help by donating an item or items, which for the world record attempt must be new and worth more than 50p, should contact John Cannon, ILPH mobile promotions officer (tel: 07801 880201).

Madness 2001 offers a fun day out for all the family, with attractions including horse and working dog displays, conventional and horsey car boot sales, clay pigeon shooting and an exemption dog show.
