Champion Hurdle winner Katchit has been put to sleep aged 10, following colic surgery.
The Alan King-trained gelding won the 2007 Triumph Hurdle, before winning the Champion Hurdle in 2008 — both with H&H racing columnist Choc Thornton. Katchit was the first five-year-old to win the race since See You Then in 1985.
The 10-year-old had undergone surgery for colic, but was put down last night (Wednesday 9 January).
“No words I can write can explain how much the little warrior meant to myself and the team at Barbury. RIP little man,” tweeted Choc.
