Horse injured in Obama’s inauguration parade set to recover

  • A horse that was injured during Barack Obama’s inauguration festivities yesterday (Tuesday 20 January) is expected to make a full recovery.

Mouse, an appaloosa, was involved in an accident with a truck on the way to the Inauguration Day Parade in Washington DC.

The horse panicked and backed into the truck, trapping one of his hind legs in the front grill of the truck. He was left lying on the ground with his hindquarters in the air.

It took 12 people nearly 2 hours to untangle his leg — attended by the Humane Society of the United States and the US Army veterinary Services.

The truck had to be dismantled to free the trapped horse, which had been sedated by vets.

Nothing was broken and the horse only sustained minor injuries.
