Hickstead grand prix win for Gambrinus

  • National champion Peter Storr and Gambrinus win Butchers Pet Care Grand Prix in closely fought contest at Dressage at Hickstead’s Premier League show

Reigning national champions, Peter Storr and Gambrinus claimed the first of three grand prix classes at the Dressage at Hickstead Premier League show with a mistake-free test that earned them more than 69% in the Butchers Pet Care Grand Prix 2002.

“I was thrilled with Gambrinus today” said Peter. “He is finding grand prix much easier now and he seems to get better and better. I feel we are working better as a partnership”.

Peter and Gambrinus, an 11-year-old stallion owned by Pinkie Heintz, will contest both the grand prix special (Saturday) and the grand prix freestyle (Sunday) and look like strong contenders for the Hickstead large tour all England title, which is awarded to the combination earning most points across the three grand prix classes.

Richard Davison and Ballaseyr Royale put in a strong challenge to finish second on 68.4%, while former Olympic rider Jennie Loriston-Clarke took third place with Catherston Humbug.
