Happy Birthday HHO!

  • To celebrate the second birthday of Horse & Hound Online, we’ve given the site a great new look

Welcome to the new look Horse & Hound Online website. To celebrate our second birthday the site’s design has been updated. As you move around the site, you will notice many changes.

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you find your way around.

    Navigating the site

You will notice that active text (text which links to another page) is now displayed in bold, instead of being underlined. Place your cursor over the text and the arrow symbol will turn into a hand if the text is a link.

The main navigation menu is now displayed horizontally at the top of the page. The navigation has been simplified for ease of use with horses for sale, classifieds, trade directory, shopping village, stallion directory and equestrian property grouped together in the HHO Marketplace.

In addition to the top navigation area, the HHO Users Centre on the right provides direct links to the shopping village, forum, how to advertise, contact us and magazine contents pages.

    Best for news

The new layout of the homepage brings you the latest top six stories . Updated throughout every day, the homepage (www.horseandhound.co.uk) includes the best equestrian news, competition news and other top stories from around the site. This is the place to keep up to date with the daily news.

For a round-up of general equestrian news from the past few days, click on News in the top navigation bar. This takes you to our dedicated news channel where the top six news stories will be displayed.

Because the site is updated so frequently stories are constantly replaced with more recent news, but all articles remain accessible forever via the HHO online archive.

If you know when an article was published online, or are interested in last month’s news, then use the “read all” drop-down menu at the bottom of the page. Select the correct month and year and click GO. This will create a list of all the headlines, a brief summary of each of the news stories and the date they were published.

To return to the homepage at any time, simply click on the image, or masthead, at the very top of the page.

    Using the search facility

Alternatively, you can use the site’s search facility to locate a story or the information you need. Simply type a keyword such as a rider’s name, horse’s name, or subject into the search box (located on the right under the latest survey) and click on Search. This will search the headline andsummary of all articles in the site’s huge archive and return successful matches with the most recent article first.

    Competition updates

As well as the latest general equestrian news, HHO provides extensive coverage of all the major disciplines in the Competition News area. Visitors can enjoy all the latest show jumping, dressage, eventing, showing, endurance, driving and racing news and advice, plus information on vaulting, reining, sport horse breeding, riding clubs and more.

Each of the major disciplines has its own specialised area which can be accessed by clicking on Competition News in the top navigation area, then select the sport of your choice (show jumping for example) in the navigationarea, which appears on the left of your screen.

Show dates and results for affiliated and unaffiliated events in all the major disciplines are also easily accessible via the Dates and Results areas of the site, enabling you to stay abreast of the latest news, plan your competition diary and check the latest form without leaving the HHO site.

Horsecare advice and more. . .
