The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has produced an essential guide for anyone who is involved in the transport of horses by road.
A spokesman for the FTA said: “Many horsebox owners do not realise that their vehicle may be of a size that brings it under special regulations relating to road transport.
“When choosing and using these vehicles it is important to understand how road transport law applies to them and what the rules entail.”
Subjects covered in the comprehensive guide include: driving licences, operator licensing, towing trailers, road traffic rules and animal welfare in transit.
