Endurance GB names six-strong squad

  • Endurance GB (EGB) has announced its squad for the world championships in Dubai next January. The final team of four will be chosen in Dubai by joint chefs d’equipe Nikky Jenkins and Jo Chisholm, with the assistance of team vets Hugh Salmon and Graham Terry.

The squad of six combinations from which the team will be chosen combines a mix of youth and experience, and includes:

    • Rachael Claridge (Silver Mistrahl)
    • Sarah Tyson (Simbar)
    • Dominique Freeman (Paris)
    • Katie Smith (Celsar Beydahl)
    • Sarah Kelleway (Ibn Aswana)
    • Pam James (Selim De Ducor)

But there is bitter disappointment for one of Britain’s most consistent performers, Beccy Broughton, who with Murmansk, has been chosen as non-travelling reserve.

A team training session has already taken place in Somerset, and another is planned for early December. At the last world championships, held in Dubai in 1998, Britain was placed seventh.

    NEWS UPDATE

Endurance GB has amended it’s squad for January’s World Championships in Dubai after one of the horses was found not to have qualified. Dominique Freeman and Paris are replaced by Beccy Broughton and Murmansk, consistent performers this year, who were originally named as reserves. US-based Dominique will be non-travelling reserve with her horse Proud Legacy.
