Dutch equestrian resigns from FEI audit committee

  • Former FEI presidential candidate Henk Rottinghuis has resigned as a member of the FEI’s audit and compliance committee.

The former dressage rider, 53, headed the Dutch equestrian federation from 1999 to 2004.

He stood against the president of the international equestrian body, Princess Haya, at the FEI general assembly in Taipei.

Explaining his decision on Tuesday, he said: “I don’t think it is appropriate for me to remain as a member of this committee following my recent campaign for the presidency.

“I hope the committee succeeds in finding an independent candidate who can replace me in fulfilling this important function overseeing the governance of the FEI.”
