Dodson & Horrell/Horse & Hound young rider bursary winner

  • Showjumper Elliott Reeves is the winner of this year’s H&H and Dodson & Horrell young rider bursary.

The 17-year-old from East Sussex will win a training session with a leading rider, a blogspot on the H&H young rider app, a year’s supply of feed and expert feeding advice, home visits and analysis from Dodson & Horrell.

“I’m really looking forward to the training and feed advice so I can get the best out of my horses,” said Elliott.

“I’m delighted to have won and hope this will open more doors for me.”

Elliott started riding eight years ago and recently left school to concentrate on horses full-time. His top horse is Cairo Z II, whom he regularly jumps at 1.30m.

“At the moment I want to get on the under-18 team, as well as jump at Hickstead in the speed Derby,” he said. “Long-term, I’d love to set up my own yard.”

Chris Gordon, Dodson & Horrell technical director, added: “The bursary was hugely competitive, with so many talented riders passionate and enthusiastic about their sports.

“Elliott presented himself well on camera and has clear goals.”
