Christmas countdown: 4 days to go!

  • Teenage Sheikh wins at WEG

History was made at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, as the world endurance title went to the youngest ever winner Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.

Partnering the 13-year-old Australian-bred Anglo Arab Bowman at their first competition together, 16-year-old Sheikh Ahmed, the youngest of Sheikh Mohammed’s three sons was a double record breaker as the first man to take the title from a long line of female winners.

After his historic win, Sheikh Ahmed said he was “feeling great and very proud.

“This race was very tough and had all the best horses. I did not expect to win.”

Sadly the championships were marred by appalling weather and the death of two horses.
