Celebrating British success


  • A host of equestrian personalities met at London’s Hilton last week to applaud the winners of the 15th Animal Health Trust (AHT) annual awards and raise around £30,000 for the trust’s important veterinary work.

    Accepting the Great Leighs Racing Award on behalf of his fabulous chestnut, Persian Punch, Jeff Smith bemoaned the difficulties involved in trying to deputise for one of the nation’s favourite horses.

    Britain’s European Championship bronze medal winning dressage team were popular winners of the Martin Collins Special Award, and Pippa Funnell received an ovation when named the winner of the Winergy Eventing Award.

    The other prize winners were:

    • Di Lampard (Golden Bear Products Show Jumping Award) (pictured)
    • Louise Bell (Arena Leisure Showing Award)
    • Geoff Lane BVetMed DESTS FRCVS (Shadwell Estate Veterinary Achievement Award)
    • Carrie Humble MBE (Lexington Insurance Voluntary Service Award)
