Record number of elite foals go under the hammer at the National Equestrian centre in Denmark

Nearly 2,000 people attended the annual Dansk Varmblod foal sale at the National Equestrian Centre, at Vilhelmsborg in Denmark on Saturday 1 September. Among those present was Danish dressage team member and trainer Lars Peterson.

The foal sale attracted a record number of sales, with 23 of the 29 lots presented being sold. All the foals have to pass through a selection committee and examination to ensure a high standard is maintained.

The top price paid this year was £7,500 for a foal by De Niro-Firenze-Feiner Stern.

Lars Anthony, general manager for Dansk Varmblod said:”Dansk Varmblod is very satisfied with the prices at this year’s foal sale. We have been working on our foal sale concept for 10 years now and breeders and buyers were happy with this year’s average price of £3,700.”

Although no foals were sold to Britain or the USA this year, the sale did attract several telephone bids from both countries.
