BE announce prize money change for 2014

  • British Eventing has announced that prize money will increase by 3% for the 2014 season to fall in line with inflation.

There has been a swelling rise of dissatisfaction with prize-money in eventing over the past few weeks with riders even creating there own Twitter account to air their grievances.

Unfortunately the increase is unlikely to satisfy riders frustrations as entry fees are also being increased by 3%.

Membership costs are also set to rise for the first time since 2011 – with full membership increasing by £5.

“Whilst we appreciate there may be some disappointment amongst our members for the changes to our pricing in 2014, we have kept the increases to an absolute minimum,” said BE finance director Wendy McGowan.

“In order for us to continue to invest in the sport and maintain the current member benefits, a continued price freeze on memberships was sadly no longer viable.”

Full information on membership fees and competition entry costs will be available on www.britisheventing.com from mid-November.
