BRITISH Eventing (BE) is hosting a series of eventing safety forums around the country this month to share ideas with the public.

BE's national safety officer Jonathan Clissold will be presenting at all four forums, joined by BE's national safety committee chairman Iain Graham and course-designer Adrian Ditcham.

"We want to tell people about the history related to the safety of the sport and what we're doing to improve safety in the future," said Mr Clissold.

Topics will include how BE collects data, how to complete a safety audit, updates on the second-generation (frangible) pin and the safety and research fence sponsored by Goodyear (pictured).

The evening forums in Scotland, Liverpool, Cambridge and Wiltshire are open to members and non-members of BE and organisers hope the open discussions will generate many more safety ideas.

BE spokesman Liza Randall said: "BE has done so much research over the past six years that we thought it was time to share [our work]. We hope as many people as possible come along and throw ideas round so we can progress even further."

BE is also producing a safety manifesto Changing Tracks, to be released later this year.
