Sophie Schofield and the Team Hollings-produced intermediate Royal Angel stood overall supreme champions at the BSPS summer championships at Arena UK.

Having claimed the same title here in the snow at the winter championships, they again went through the card to clinch the Timberwolf Supreme title.

Judges Sue Goodman and Lauren Humphries were in complete agreement. "He's such an elegant horse, with lovely manners and great presence," said Lauren.

Having already stood intermediate, and overall summer champions, the pair never faltered to add the Blue Riband intermediate tricolour, and overall supreme on the final evening.

Only months into their partnership, Sophie and the 7-year-old remain unbeaten in intermediate classes. They have notched up an enviable tally of major wins and championships this summer, including the Royal International.

"He's given me a dream first season in intermediate classes," said Sophie.

Taking the reserve supreme was Debbie Day's Mountcaulfield Freedom, who had earlier claimed the Premier League supreme championship for Lucy Day.

New location

The BSPS summer championships settled well into Arena UK's extended showground, and the feedback was positive throughout the show. Those who stayed on to watch the final performance were rewarded with a high class supreme championship.

Also in contention were the Blue Riband supreme champions Valantino's Royal Touch (Sophie Brown), The Travel Trust supreme champion Sycamore Candyman (Amy Cook), the David Manning supreme champion Chinook Easter Magic (Rebecca Harvey), The Redwood supreme Heritage champion Kyregate Peter Pan (William Prince) and The Sculpture to Wear Pretty Polly Supreme Whinchats Prickley Bay (Trudy Goodyear).

Working hunters sharing the spotlight on the final evening included India Taylor, who claimed the Genders mini WHP title riding Liberty VI, Phoebe Cashmore and Jasper of Spear who claimed the Cefn Charmer award as the most consistent working hunter combination, and Jennifer Skillman who took the coveted Desert Orchid WHP title with Carnsdale Vanity Fair.

Marvellous consistency throughout the season with Willowhill Forget Me Not clinched the top prize of a lap-top computer for Ayrshire rider Zoe-Martella Nicoll as winner of the BSPS email Accumulator.

Meanwhile, not only has Felicity Thompson's Powys Jack Flash done a great job of taking her son Freddie into first ridden classes, the home produced Section A also earned the Sefton Tony supreme championship which earned the winning rider a £1,000 voucher for a holiday in a Disney Theme Park.
